Changelog
Every version of Easy Mailbox, newest first.
Current: 0.33.0 from 2026-10-25.
Fixes: attachments and text view
- Attachments could neither be opened nor downloaded in the app – clicking did nothing. Now a click opens the attachment in the matching app; the arrow next to it only saves it. Both put the file in "Downloads", and a message names it
- The same goes for "Download source": the message is saved to "Downloads" as an .eml file
- Files with the same name are not overwritten but numbered
- Text view: messages the sender broke after about 70 characters now use the full width. Paragraphs, lists, quotes, addresses and the signature stay as they are
- Very long links in the text view no longer make the reading pane wider than the window; they wrap
Server spam score
- Messages for which your mail server sends a spam score show it as a small grey number in the list and in the header of the open message. A tooltip names the source (for example X-Spam-Status)
- The number is for information only and rates nothing: every provider counts differently, and many (such as Gmail, iCloud, Outlook.com) send none
- Messages already in the app get the score on the next fetch, in local folders too
Message source and headers
- "View source" and "Show headers" in a message's right-click menu and in the reader's "…" menu: the message opens in a tab of its own, as plain text, exactly as it is on the server
- Long attachments are folded ("… 4.2 MB base64 – expand") so the rest stays readable
- In the tab: Copy all, download the source and wrap lines on/off. Opening the same message again switches to its tab
Right-click menus
- Right-click a message to see its actions: reply, forward, read/unread, flag, move, archive, spam, delete and "Download source". Right-clicking another message selects it first
- Right-click a folder: "Mark all as read" (with undo) and "Rename …". Filter rules that move mail into the folder are updated when you rename it. Inbox, Sent, Trash and the other special folders keep their names
- Right-click the inbox or an account name to open that account's settings
- The browser menu with "Reload" no longer appears. Text fields and selected text keep copy, paste and spelling
"What's new" after an update
- After an update, "What's new" opens once by itself and shows what changed. Later you find it any time under Easy Mailbox → What's New …
"What's new"
- New menu item Easy Mailbox → What's New …: shows the changes of the last ten versions. In the Outlook 2007 appearance also in the "?" menu
Settings and address book as tabs
- Settings and the address book open as their own tab next to "Mail" and close with ×. As long as only "Mail" is open, the app looks as before
- The mail view stays as it was: folder, open mail and scroll position are unchanged when you switch back. The settings remember their page
- A half-filled dialog stays open while you look something up in the Mail tab – for example, copy an address and paste it into a new filter rule
- ⌘, opens the settings, ⌃Tab and ⌃⇧Tab switch between tabs
Your own name for the app
- Under Settings → General → "Name in the header" you can show your own name instead of "Easy Mailbox", for example for screenshots. It appears in the header and the window title
- The window title now also shows the number of unread messages
Copying filter rules
- Filter rules can now also be copied from a mailbox to the global rules and back
- Global rules can now also mark as read and delete (into the trash of the mailbox at hand). A global delete rule asks once before it is saved
Bug fix
- Long settings pages made the whole window scroll on small screens – two scroll bars and a header that disappeared. Fixed in every appearance
Filter rules with several conditions
- A rule can have several conditions: "all must match" or "one is enough"
- Every condition takes several values, one per line – for example all social media senders in a single rule
- The account export now contains every filter rule, the global ones too. Importing creates missing local folders
Moving mail between mailboxes
- "Move to …" (V) lists the folders of every mailbox; dragging onto a folder of another account works too. The message keeps its flags and date received, the original goes to the trash – "Undo" brings it back
- New filter action "Move to another mailbox"
- New checkbox "Also mark as read" on every moving filter action
Filter action "Mark as spam"
- Filter rules can mark a message as spam: it is marked as read and moved into the mailbox's spam folder – as a global rule too
The "Unread" view
- New entry Unread in the folder list: every unread message from all inboxes and local folders in one list, newest first
- Opens instantly without waiting for the server, and can be searched by subject and sender
Global filter rules
- Global filter rules apply to the inbox of every account, for example: subject contains "Invoice" → local folder "Invoices", wherever the message arrives
- If one of the account's own rules matches, it takes precedence – so exceptions per account are possible
- "Apply to all inboxes now" sorts existing messages
Sync log
- New sync log as a side panel (⇧H or "Window → Sync log"): when which account fetched, filtered or removed mail – and every error
- It only lists changes and errors. The same error several times in a row stays one entry ("4× since 09:42")
- Expanding an entry shows details for troubleshooting, "Copy" puts it on the clipboard
- Only numbers are stored, never senders or subjects
Sync progress
- The account in the folder sidebar shows whether it is waiting, syncing (from 20 messages with "120/480") or done
- With several accounts or many messages, a line at the bottom of the folder sidebar shows the overall progress
- Background syncs are visible too, and the list reloads as soon as new mail arrives
Calmer syncing
- All syncs run through one shared queue, at most two accounts at a time. That spares the mail servers and avoids duplicate syncs at startup
- A hanging server no longer blocks anything: the sync gives up after two minutes
- Large mailboxes load in smaller batches with short pauses
- After errors the app waits a little longer before each new attempt, and 15 minutes right away for sign-in problems, so the provider does not lock the account. "Try again" always works immediately
Sync status per account
- An icon next to the account name shows sync problems: yellow when it will probably pass on its own, red when you need to do something (for example enter a new password)
- A click explains the cause, shows the server's reply and offers "Try again" and "Edit account"
- The app now also recognizes when a provider throttles or asks for an app password
- Fix: an account sometimes looked fine although syncing kept failing
Copying filter rules
- A filter rule can be copied to another account (Settings → Filters, copy icon on the rule). If the target folder does not exist in the other account, you pick it again
Create filter from a message
- Right-click the subject, sender or a recipient of an open message to create a filter rule that is already filled in
- Filter rules can now also match the recipient
Outlook 2007 look
- New look Outlook 2007: blue-silver window with menu bar, toolbar, navigation pane and status bar
- The new-message window gets a ribbon there, and settings open as an options dialog
- Menu and status bars of the Outlook looks now also appear in the address book and in settings
Outlook 365 look
- New look Outlook 365: blue header with search field, command bar, app bar on the left, favorites and the tabs "All / Unread"
- Actions on hovering a message row (delete, archive, flag, read) apply to exactly that row
- In the Apple Mail look the favorites group is now called "Mailboxes"
Apple Mail look
- New look Apple Mail: the Mac's system colors and font, toolbar at the top, two-line message rows with a blue unread dot, favorites in the sidebar
- The message list can be grouped by date (Today, Yesterday, Last week …), and the reading pane can sit below it
Groundwork for new looks
- Internal rework as the basis for more looks. Nothing changes visibly
Fix
- When the mail server rejects a request – such as a search or loading a message – the app now shows an error. Before, it reported "no results" or "not found", for example
Color themes
- New looks Gruvbox Dark, Gruvbox Light, Tokyo Night and Dracula
- Settings → General → Appearance shows them all as tiles with a preview
- No flash of the wrong colors at startup
- The HTML view stays a white sheet in every look
Fix
- When the mail server rejects an action (for example read, star, delete or move), the app now reports an error instead of showing it as done
Local folders
- Local folders on your Mac with their own trash: create, nest, rename, delete
- Dragging a message there moves it: it is stored encrypted, verified and only then deleted on the server. Undo puts it back
- Drag and drop for messages, several at once too, onto any folder
- Reading, searching, replying and forwarding also work in local folders
- New filter action "Move to local folder", plus export and import as .eml files
Send now and history
- The sending notice has a "Send now" button next to "Undo"
- The undo time and the send delay can be set separately, 5 to 30 seconds
- History (key H): the last 1000 actions and sent messages, failures included, with a filter
Several messages at once
- Select several messages: Shift+arrow keys, Shift+click, Cmd+click, Cmd+A. Esc clears the selection
- Archive, delete, move, read, star, spam and newsletter apply to all selected messages, and one undo takes it all back
HTML view
- Messages with HTML can be switched from text to the original (key V) – for the open message only
- Protected in several layers: no scripts, no forms, images from the web only after "Load"
- In the junk folder, remote content can never be loaded and links are not clickable
- Links open in your browser. If the link text does not match the target, the app asks first
Names from the address book
- The name from your address book replaces the name in the message, in the list, the reading pane and notifications. In the junk folder the original name stays, to guard against forgeries
- Order "First Last" or "Last, First" can be set
- Searching for a name also finds mail from the matching contacts
Custom account names
- Every account can get its own name, shown in the account list and when picking a sender
Take your accounts with you
- Pro export: export accounts including passwords as a passphrase-encrypted file and import them on another Mac
First version
- Several IMAP accounts, credentials encrypted in the Mac's Keychain
- Reading, searching, unified inbox, attachments
- Writing, replying, forwarding, drafts, templates, Markdown
- Sending with 30 seconds to change your mind, actions with undo
- Filter rules, signatures, a learning spam filter, address book
